What is ProKids Young Professionals?

PKYP is a group of active people who are dedicated to stopping the cycle of child abuse in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Our goal is to raise young professionals' awareness of child abuse while meeting the needs of the abused children served by ProKids.

PKYP was founded in 2011 by professionals who wanted to help abused children but whose limited time prevented them from taking on the casework required to serve as CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  PKYP provides its members the flexibility and opportunity to share their energy and talents so they can make a difference in our community.  It also happens to be a great way to network, develop leadership skills and meet new friends.

Give the gift of yourself

There are a number of PKYP volunteer opportunities from which members can choose, with varying degrees of time commitment and involvement.  These range from enjoying our socials to heading a committee to volunteering to help with a special event.

Although it's not required, we highly encourage you to join one of the following committees so you can be part of the decisions for PKYP.

Membership Committee: Assist in growing the membership of PKYP through membership drives and in maintaining communication with current members.
Socials and Mixers Committee: Serve as a fundraising partner of ProKids by planning smaller-scale PKYP fundraising events, such as happy hours or socials.
Special Activities Committee: Develop new programs and coordinate existing programs, such as the PKYP Transition Team (see below), to assist the children served by ProKids.

The committees are led by members of the PKYP Council.  No matter what committee you pick, you can be involved in all areas of ProKids Young Professionals!

We encourage you to join the new PKYP Transition Team.  PKYP Transition Team members help young adults transition from foster care to independent living.  Volunteer opportunities include helping a young person create a resume, apply to college, explore housing options, etc.  A $25.00 non-refundable background check is required.

How do I join PKYP?

Click here to fill out the membership application and pay on line (make sure to select "Join PKYP" from the drop down menu in the first line).  Or download the membership application (pdf) and drop it in the mail, fax it to 513-487-6444, or email it to PKYP@prokids.org.    Annual dues are $25 for a new member or $10 for students.  These dues help ProKids provide services to abused children, offset operating costs for PKYP activities, and will ensure you receive all updates on ProKids activities and invitations to special events.
