How do children get a ProKids CASA?ProKids CASAs are appointed by Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
What are the requirements for becoming a CASA?You must be able to make a 1-year commitment of 2-4 hours per week, be at least 21-years-old and have effective oral and written communication skills.
When will I be assigned to a child?You will be assigned a child upon completion of background checks and the ProKids training program, CASA University.
What happens when I get a case?With the help and support of a volunteer supervisor, the CASA volunteer talks to the family, professionals and the child to find out about the child’s life and current situation. The CASA monitors the child, helping to ensure his/her needs are being met and speaks for the child in and out of the courtroom. The CASA makes recommendations about services and living arrangements.
How do children finally leave Juvenile Court supervision?Children leave Juvenile Court supervision after being placed in a safe, permanent and nurturing home or after they have turned eighteen. They may be placed with their biological parents, family friends, live independently or be adopted.
