YMCA and JUNIOR LEAGUE HELP FOSTER CHILDREN SLEEP BETTER
11/14/06 - YMCA and JUNIOR LEAGUE HELP FOSTER CHILDREN SLEEP BETTER
Over 500 pairs of new Pajamas to be delivered to local foster children.
CINCINNATI, OH – November 14, 2006— The Junior League and YMCA of Greater Cincinnati are pleased to announce over 500 pairs of Pajamas were collected in October at all YMCA of Greater Cincinnati branches and at the Junior League of Cincinnati. The pajamas will be delivered to ProKids, 2320 Kemper Lane, 45202, on Friday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m.
ProKids speaks up for children who have been abused or neglected so severely they have been removed from their families and placed in foster care. ProKids CASA volunteers establish a relationship with the child and advocate on their behalf to ensure a safe, nurturing and permanent home for every child.
The Pajama Project, www.pajamaprogram.org started in 2001 after founder Genevieve Piturro discovered many abandoned children slept in their clothes or sometimes, no clothes at all. She then took it as personal mission to provide sleepwear for those waiting to be adopted and it has now spread to 15 states and two countries.
The Ohio Chapter of the Pajama Program was founded in early 2006 by Lora Anstaett (YMCA), Suzanne Burgei (Junior League), Shelley Spiegel (YMCA) and Keke Tsiribas Sansalone (Junior League). The founders are all very proud the YMCA and Junior League’s combined efforts made this a reality in Cincinnati. Members of both organizations will be helping to bring comfort to those in need as the pajamas are distributed.
